Packaging for Hanging on Euro Hooks

There are a number of ways of displaying your product to show it off to its best and to promote faster sales, from simple header cards through to window patched cartons and blister packs. We have design and production facilities for the cardboard backing cards, inserts, cartons etc, with cold seal latex being a speciality. We also offer a packing and fulfilment service for all of the products we produce. We only supply the backing cards, not the Blisters.

Here we are showing a variety of packaging options designed for a variety of products, some for fast moving higher volume products, others for slow moving products, often the high volume products are competitively priced products so the look of the product can determine the perceived value of it in the eyes of the buyer. So it is important to consider what sort of pack suits your product and how it will be perceived by the buyer.

Because sales conditions are always changing and some of the material has a shelf life we recommend that you don’t buy more than a few months’ worth of packaging so please read the notes below about the product you think might suit you best.

The first sight of any product, the way it is packed and how it is displayed (possibly in a counter or floor display) has an immediate impact on the prospective buyer so if the items are ‘must have utility items’ then maybe the packaging is not so important, however for the vast majority of product this first sight determines the customers’ willingness to buy.

Here is basic information about the Hanging packaging we can offer.

Fast moving low cost items can be in simple heat seal blister packs which usually have a black print on the back with some instructions. These are often hardware or utility products where the item doesn’t need to be sold on the spot. If they are bigger, more complex items then the tooling and production costs will often be very high so only work for very long runs.

Small items can be packed with header card and bags, they generally work well for utility but not for premium products

Higher cost items and innovative items need the pack to explain the uses of the product and demonstrate that the product is a high quality item, for these we would recommend the cold seal blister or backing cards as they offer both sides in colour print and can have a glossy finish, these would work for packing simple items i.e. only 1 or maybe 2 components in the pack

For complicated items with multiple content then a hanging carton can be very effective, we can put a window in the front face to show the product but it is often better to show a photo of the product made up so the customer can see what they will end up with

Details of each type of packs we offer are below

1. Cold Seal Blister Cards

Cold Seal packs offer great product visibility and are very versatile. These Backing cards are printed double finished size, then coated on the back of the card with a special dry adhesive, the adhesive only sticks to itself when the card is folded over, trapping the blister and contents when pressed together.

Good for hand DIY assembly as very easy to pack
Can be machine packed for volume use
We can create shaped header cards for extra impact
Higher perceived value than ordinary blisters
Can allow space for instruction leaflets etc, to be sandwiched between the 2 faces when packed
The cards are also good for heavy items as the double thickness card can be from 1mm up to 1.5mm thick
Finished Card folds over so outside is printed both sides in colour
We can offer a packing service for these cards
We only supply the backing cards not the blisters
You will need vacuum formed blister moulds and cutters for this product or to buy blisters from an off the shelf supplier
We can often create a pack round a stock blister if supplied to us to keep Origination costs down

The glue used for this product has limited shelf life as do all types of Coating for blister cards we would recommend ordering only enough for a 6 -12 month period as the glue may deteriorate. The packs must be stored in a cool but not cold, dry environment.

2. Special Shaped Header Cards

Here we use card engineering to try to secure the item in a space or fold-over section of the card.

Good for items which the public needs to touch or feel
We can create shaped header cards for more impact
As card is usually double thickness and it can be printed on reverse at same time as front in full colour
Can be glued with soft glue so they can be peeled apart and opened to read print on the inside face
Origination charges limited to cutting forms only as no PVC Blisters involved.
The glue used for this product has a limited shelf life as do all types of Coating for blister cards, we would recommend ordering only enough for a 6 -12 month period as the glue may deteriorate.
The packs must be stored in a cool but not cold, dry environment.

3. Fold over Header Cards

Good with poly-bags for low cost utility or accessory items
Good for short runs
Simply fold over and staple
Origination charges limited to cutting forms only as no PVC Blisters
We have standard size cutters for some sizes so no origination costs on these

4. Hidden Staple and Cold Seal header cards

Give a higher quality look as the staples are hidden behind the header card
We can create shaped header cards for more impact
Card is coated with Cold seal adhesive the bag is attached to one half using a staple then the card folds against the other half and sticks together giving a thick strong header with no staples showing.
More expensive than standard header but still lower cost than Blisters as no vac form moulds required

The packs must be stored in a cool but not cold, dry environment.

5. Hanging Carton

Hanging cartons are best used when the product is better displayed with photos or images to show how it works.
Useful for multiple components, space on reverse for instructions etc.

6. Slide on Blister Cards

The Blisters are made to fit the shape of your product with a special lip which folds over the side of the card. The backing card slides onto the blister without needing special tooling.

Good for products which you want the public to be able to look at and handle
More expensive to manufacture than heat seal blisters
Not secure as the product is easy to access
Blister backing cards need to be stiff/thicker as the blister isn’t sealed to card
Good for DIY as no special equipment needed for assembly
We offer a packing service for slide on Blisters including product assembly if needed, boxing, labelling and palletising
Slide on Blisters are more expensive to buy as the blister has to have 2 formed lips to slide onto the card
Origination costs higher and packing cannot be mechanised easily

7. Clamshell Inserts

We can offer thin card inserts for Clamshell

Can allow access to product at point of sale
OR can be made to seal with heat gun or RF welder to STOP tampering and theft at point of sale.
Advantages good for high volume.
Disadvantages Higher start up costs for forming moulds and tools
We offer a packing service for Clamshell Blisters including product assembly if needed, boxing, labelling and palletising

8. Heat seal Blister cards

With these blisters the card is coated with a special heat seal coating which seals the blisters to the card under heat and pressure, the coating can be water based which is the most common or spirit based for longer life where products may be expected to stay around for some time.

Low cost for higher volume
Need specialist equipment or contract packers to makeup
Card can be any shape printed 1 or both sides
